The Springfield Street Choir is a choir for singers who are currently or formerly homeless, or are experiencing extreme poverty. The Street Choir a project of the Springfield Chamber Chorus in collaboration with Gathering Friends for the Homeless and The Connecting Grounds with the mission of creating and fostering community, dignity, and beauty amongst people in Springfield, MO experiencing homelessness and/or extreme deprivation.

We began rehearsing in October of 2019 and regularly have between 40 and 60 singers at each weekly rehearsal. We believe that community is formed and lives are improved by music; please consider donating or pledging a recurring donation to the Street Choir today!

We are basing the Springfield Street Choir on the wildly-successful model of the Dallas Street Choir, and adopting many of their best practices including:

  • Incentivizing singers to attend rehearsals and performances
  • Programming uplifting and inspirational secular music
  • Partnering with a local service organization to provide meals and resources to singers at rehearsal
  • Honoring the journey of everyone who chooses to sing with us

We are excited to perform for your event or organization, so if you are interested in having the Street Choir perform at your event or function, please send us a request and we will get back with you to discuss the costs and logistics.

Springfield Chamber Chorus and Gathering Friends for the Homeless are both registered 501(c)3 charities.
